A Beautiful Late-Georgian Openwork Cartouche Paste Brooch
£890.00
D E S C R I P T I O N
Late-Georgian, c.1820
A truly delightful example of colourful Georgian paste, the openwork cartouche with eight pinch-collet set circular-cut pink paste stones, within a foliate surround of smaller similarly-cut white paste stones, all to closed-back settings. Likely a conversion from a shoe buckle.
Rather than being considered mere copies of real diamonds and gems, paste jewels are highly regarded for what they are: elegant, beautifully constructed pieces and a perfect expression of the period in which they were made.
