I was looking for a specific shape of diamond ring when I discovered Jewels of Vertu online. Whilst browsing their website, I discovered that after a futile search for many weeks, their beautiful items suddenly presented me with a plethora of choice. After many inquiries about other rings on other sites, what I was not expecting was the patience, promptness and respect I experienced. Choosing the perfect ring can be rather nerve racking, and I certainly felt nervous before our meeting. However, when I arrived, Matthew was so friendly and welcoming, and he immediately put me at ease. It became apparent that Matthew genuinely wanted me (and Tia) to be entirely satisfied with my choice of ring. He was not pushing for a sale, like so many other Jewelry store staff do. We talked for quite a while, (not just business), and admired my ring of choice, as well as a couple of others that Matthew thought may be contenders. The ring was perfect (so many colours sparkling from the diamonds!), and I knew that it was the one. I would have happily bought it there and then, but, surprisingly, Matthew wanted me to have some time to think it over and be certain of my choice. We met for a second time about 2 weeks later, had a coffee and chat. Then, upon confirming that I was satisfied, Matthew allowed me to buy the ring. Matthew had got it polished and it was presented in a smart black and gold box, with a certificate, detailing the item, I mentioned to Matthew that my only concern, (apart from Tia saying 'no'), was that it wouldn't be the right size, but, again Matthew impressed me by offering a free re-size if the ring were too big, or small.

I embarked on my search for the perfect engagement ring with little to go on other than the odd comment when window shopping. Buying an engagement ring is on paper one of the most daunting things I've done in recent years. Finding the perfect item for someone you love, in a market you have very little knowledge about and at a price that is accurate could be a stressful process. In reality, Matthews approach and business model at Jewels of Vertu made the whole process completely stress free, Informative and actually surprisingly enjoyable. Having searched high street jewellers, antique shops and Hatton Garden jewellers i found the same problems kept occurring. Finding a ring i liked enough myself was difficult, but on top of that being in a shop environment with sales staff asking if i liked everything i looked at added to a feeling of pressure to buy. I found Matthews website through a simple search for Vintage engagement rings, and the presentation of the rings instantly caught my attention. I arranged an appointment not really knowing what to expect from a Mayfair based jewellers but was pleasantly surprise by the whole experience. The one on one appointment with Matthew instantly made me feel at ease. His relaxed approach allowed me to look through a selection of rings with zero sales pressure, allowing me to get an idea of what i might like. Matthew clearly has vast experience and knowledge of the items he is selling and was willing to answer any questions no matter how trivial. He is clearly very passionate about what he is doing and appears to take a genuine interest in the engagement and what exactly i was after. Having started a pretty exhaustive search in August, I met Matthew in October, where he showed me a selection of beautiful rings, but none that felt quite me. We began looking for rings in the early part of the year and after an extensive search through jewellery shops and hours of browsing the Internet, we had some idea of what we wanted, but still hadn't found "the one". Antiques have always fascinated us both and the idea of buying a ring with history was something that felt right.
On searching through the web for antique rings, we came across a stunning 1920s cluster ring and instantly fell in love.
We emailed Matthew to request more photos and received a rapid response with photos of all angles, as well as a high quality video to show off the dazzling sparkle.
We decided we would like to view the ring in person, whilst on holiday in Brighton a couple of weeks later and Matthew kindly put it on reserve for us.

From the moment we met Matthew, in Green Park House, we were greeted with the warmest welcome and instantly felt relaxed. He guided us through the whole process of how his business works and the passion he has for jewellery is admirable.

The ring was then presented to us to view and try on and Matthew talked us through the history of the old cut diamonds and how they were made, including an explanation about the popularity of the extra facet on the bottom of the diamond, which was very interesting.
A perfect fit when tried on for size and even more stunning in person! We knew in our hearts that we had just found "the one".

Once business was concluded, the conversation was still flowing and we sat together in the lounge area sharing stories and plenty of laughs. To be honest we could have stayed and chatted all day!
We felt a real connection with Matthew and loved being in his presence, so much so that we have invited him and his partner to our wedding next year.
